Classy Co-Ed Fashion Tips for Valentine’s Day!

    February 2, 2010 by

Valentine’s Day is sneaking up and we are all stressing on what our “perfect” look will be, right?  Well, worry no more!  Here are some great tips to look fabulous AND sweet on that special day/night with your honey or with your girlfriends.

The LBD - Always in Style.

The LBD - Always in Style.

No matter the occasion, keep it classy!  Whether you’re going out with your girlfriends, or on a romantic date with your loved one, dress to the “T”.  Being a CL coed always makes you want to look your best!  Remember that lovely little black dress that you’ve been dying to wear?  Well, this is the time to get it out!!  If you are looking for a new one, try Forever 21.  They always have the best LBD’s at such great prices!  Can we say ‘FABULOUS!’

Be sure to wear a little bit of love.  It’s Valentine’s Day so wear some pearls for a super feminine look.  If you aren’t a “pearl girl”, try incorporating a touch of pink or red.  This will keep you in the Valentine’s Day spirit!

Tired of your same ol’ hair-do?  Try something new, to spice it up a bit!  If you have the lovely curls, try pin curls for a super fun retro look.  If you are like me, and you have the straight doo, try some big, loose curls.  This will be a more romantic look and will add a different touch.  So be sure to grab some bobby pins for those pin curls and a curling iron for those big ones!

Look amazing and smell great, too!  ϑ  Be sure to complete your look with a scent of something sweet.  Try warm vanilla sugar body spray from Bath & Body Works or if you want something fruitier, but still sweet, try  Princess by Vera Wang.  Either one will complete your Valentine’s Day look.

So – with all of these little tips combined, going out on Valentine’s Day with your honey or girlfriends will be a little less stressful to prepare for.  Look and feel fabulous this Valentine’s Day!!

The CL Secret of Keeping Your Lovely Locks… LOVELY.

Have the summer heat & rays damaged your hair? Do you want to keep your hair looking fabulous for fall? Well look no more! Here are some secrets to keep your hair SHINY & HEALTHY! (And trust me, they really work!! I live by these helpful tips!) Follow these tips and you will walk out of the bathroom in the mornings with your beautiful head (and hair!) held high!

shower –THE RIGHT WAY TO WASH– Experts are always saying not to shampoo & condition your hair daily. Well in a way they are right. Try this instead. Condition your hair daily, while staying away from the roots. Leave in the conditioner and then shampoo your roots. Rinse and you’ll end up with your hair retaining it’s shine and maintaining a healthy state.

    Ulta.com

–GO NATURAL– Try using a natural bristle brush. Stay away from the extreme styling and brushing. Look for a boar bristle brush or one that is natural in stores like Target. Natural bristles are less likely to damage your hair and give you fly-aways. They give back the oils and nutrients to your hair instead of damaging it. Using this type of brush will be sure to BOOST your shine.

n_babyliss_ionic_hairdryers_4184–KEEP IT COOL– Before you hop out of the shower in the mornings, be sure to do one last rinse with cold water. It seals the cuticles at the ends of your hair, which will result in smooth, shiny hair. Also, don’t forget the cold blast button on your hairdryer. Most hairdryers now-a-days have one for this purpose only. It will help the smoothing effect on your hair.

–FIGHT FRIZZ THE RIGHT WAY!– Using smoothing products, like silicone-based products, are great ways to fight fe_familyfrizz. But like any other product, use them in moderation. Too much, and your hair will look extremely flat and maybe even greasy.

These are just a few tips on how to keep you hair looking fabulous and healthy. Hundreds of thousands of women are in the bathroom every day working on their “perfect doo” and by following these simple tips, you may be able to save half the time it takes to normally do your hair.

Let us, here at College Lifestyles, know which products are great for you and which ones you live by! We’d love to know!

    Everything’s Bigger In Texas Country

    July 23, 2009 by

Have you ever visited Texas? I JUST DID! All I can say is, “WOW!”. The farthest west I have ever been was to Memphis, TN for a sorority conference. Texas was a whole new experience. I spent 6 days wondering around 2 amazing cities. I visited the good ol’ capital Austin, and also visited San Antonio. Both of those places have so many exciting things to do and experience. The only problem with Texas is that it is SUPER hot. Besides that, Texas is one cool place.

    texas_homepage

While visiting Austin, I experienced the late nights of downtown, I rode down the river in intertubes, and experienced the lovely food called Tex-Mex. It was great! Downtown is definitely a place to visit. There are many different scenes to check out and you don’t want to miss it! The city police block off areas of downtown so you can walk in the middle of the streets and it is pure craziness! Definitely a lot of fun! If you get the chance to go, definitely visit “The Ranch”. It is a great place to hang out with your girls or meet new people. Riding down the river is another thing you can’t leave Texas without doing. You can enjoy a lazy ride down the river with your friends and get some sun while doing it. One place I definitely recommend to eat is Chuy’s. It is a delicious tex-mex restaurant and has great chips and salsa!

riverwalk-san-antonioSan Antonio is one amazing city. The Alamo, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, The Wax Museum, The Spanish Palace and the Menger Hotel are just a few hot spots there. There is an abundance of history in this place that you can’t miss out on! The beautiful old buildings and the gorgeous riverwalk are places that you have to visit. On the riverwalk, there are many different kinds of restaurants and shops. There are boat tours that ride up and down the river that give you an amazing tour of the riverwalk in 15 minutes. The Alamo is a beautiful place that contains history of heroes like Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie. San Antonio also has Sea World and the San Antonio Zoo! Definitely places that are fun to visit if you are an animal lover.

Visiting Texas was an awesome experience and the people there are wonderful. It opened my eyes up to a completely different world. It is so different from Savannah, Georgia. I definitely enjoyed my time in Texas.

That was my fabulous summer vacation. Where have you gone for your’s? Share your fab vacays with us here at College Lifestyles!

The Perfect Pedicure: Do it yourself!!

    June 29, 2009 by

    ourpedictures

Looking for the perfect pedicure that you can do all by yourself? Well you have come to the right place! Here are some great ideas and steps to give yourself the pretty pedicure that you have been dying for all summer. It will get your feet looking great from heel to toe!

    • Get those toes squeaky clean! — Did your darker polish leave a nasty yellow stain on your toes and you can’t get it off? Try using a tablespoon of Clorox with a cup of water. Scrub ‘em good and then rinse and buff.
    • Get creative! — There are many colors of toenail polish out there so try them all! Sparkly ones, dark ones, bright ones and many more! Be sure to match your sandals/shoes with your toes! The more glitzy the sandal, the more neutral the color should be. Be bold with more conservative sandals.
    • Keep your toes in the BEST shape! – Put an extra layer of base coat, nail color, and top coat on the ends and tips of each nail. The tips are always the first to peel when it comes to color. Do this to keep your nail color lasting longer!
    • NO rushing! Take your time!! — Be sure to allow enough time for your pretty toes to dry! The darker shades of polish take a little while longer to dry then the lighter ones. SO, if you are in a rush, paint your toes with a lighter color, that way they will dry faster!
    • NO MORE BLISTERS!! YAY! – Use a clear, sticky, first aid tape to put under those straps of your newest sandals! Use that to break it in, that way you avoid having blisters.
    • Who said coloring inside the lines was fun? — Don’t stress if you paint part of your skin instead of your nail. Here’s an old beauty tip: Paint 2 coats of color at night before you go to bed. After you shower in the morning, while your feet are still wet, scrape the paint off  around your toenail. It’ll come right off!
    • Grimy dirty feet? NO THANKS! – Plan on going out downtown at night? Bring some wet towelettes to wipe those gross feet off and keep your pedicure looking fabulous!
    • Gotta love those sandpaper heels! — Keep your feet nice and soft by scrubbing them with a pumice stone and lathering them with Vaseline when you get a break. That will lock in moisture and keep your feet “as smooth as a baby’s bottom!”

    pebblepedicures

Those are just some great tips and steps to keep your toes and feet looking fabulous! I have been experimenting with the latest colors, but I am always a fan of the traditional french pedicure. Be bold and use colors you would never dare to try!

Travel Tips for a Fabulous Summer Vacay

    June 28, 2009 by
Filed under CL ExCLusives!, The Intern Dish, Travel

Okay– So it is officially summertime, and I am sure that you are planning or packing for you’re fabulous summer trip before school gets started! Whether it’s a crazy, family vacation or a road trip with the girls, you are sure to have a blast! I know we all get busy planning and trying to pack and fit every cotton-pickin’ thing into our suitcases, so we are bound to forget something. Trust me, I am definitely guilty of that! In that case, here are some great travel tips and some extra fun things to bring along with you to make your vacation 100 percent FABULOUS:

    summer-vacation-beach

    • If you are flying, be sure to get there atleast an hour before your flight. Checking in and checking your bags can som etimes take a while, so in that case, get there as early as you can so that you have enough time.
    • When flying, be prepared for delays. It can happen at the worst time, but be sure to bring your Ipod alo ng and a good magazine to keep yourself entertained. Also, wear comfy, cotton clothes. They won’t wrinkle as much. So when you get off th e plane, you won’t look like a wrinkled mess.
    • If you plan on traveling by car, bring some good oldies music or movie soundtracks that everyone in the car will enjoy. It can be entertaining and can always make those 8 hour car trips go by a lot faster!
    • Be sure to get a tune up and your oil changed if you are going on a road trip. That way, incase there is a problem with your car , you will know ahead of time and can make other arrang ements.
    • Pack smart! Don’t fill up your suitcase with nonsense! I am completely guilty of this! I always bring way more clothes than I need and I hardly touch anything in my suitcase. So, bring the basics! Forget the extra stuff!
    • Plan ahead and grab directions off of MapQuest or have a GPS on hand. Getting lost is certainly NO fun and can definitely put you behind schedule.

Those are just some tips for traveling while your heading to your summer getaway! I’ve already started getting ready for my 2 week vacation! I am driving up to Fayetteville, NC and visiting with some friends for 5 days and then flying out to Austin, TX to visit with more friends and then heading to San Antonio, TX for some fun there. I will leave there and head to north Georgia to visit with family. It’s going to be a long trip but it will certainly be a blast! Don’t worry– I’ll keep y’all posted on my latest adventures!!

SO- Where are YOU heading this summer? Any special vacations before heading back to school? Let us know! We love hearing about exciting, new places, here at College Lifestyles.
